Between a beach morning, an afternoon hike and a sunset viewpoint, a full sit-down meal isn't always what you want — Santorini has a decent range of quick, walkable food for exactly those gaps.
Souvlaki and gyro
As across Greece, grilled skewered meat or a wrapped gyro (with fries and tzatziki tucked inside, in the traditional style) is the most common fast, cheap meal on the island, available from small stands and casual spots in Fira and the beach towns in particular.
Tyropita and spanakopita
Filo pastries filled with cheese (tyropita) or spinach and cheese (spanakopita) are widely available from bakeries, making an easy handheld breakfast or mid-morning snack — see also bougatsa in our breakfast and coffee guide.
Loukoumades
Small fried dough balls, served warm and drenched in honey and cinnamon, are a common dessert-stand treat found in Fira and the busier tourist streets — worth trying at least once.
Where to find genuine quick bites
Fira's side streets away from the caldera-facing restaurants, and the main streets of Kamari and Perissa, generally have better, more locally priced quick food than the immediate caldera-view strip in Oia.
